Cupping

Myofascial cupping is derived from Traditional Chinese Cupping, whereby cups are applied to the skin and a vacuum suction is created, drawing the superficial tissue layers into the cup.

Cupping can be applied to specific acupressure points or entire regions of the body which are affected by pain. The cups are then moved methodically creating a form of myofascial release.

Myofascial cupping has many therapeutic benefits including:

  • Reducing localised inflammation

  • Passively stretching soft tissue

  • Preventing scarring

  • Reducing sympathetic nervous energy (fight or flight response)

  • Drawing nutrient rich blood to the targeted area
